Historic aerial photographs available for viewing

PLEASE NOTE

Due to the mishandling of our historic aerial photos it is now required that a District Employee pull the photos that you are looking to view at a charge of $30.00 per hour with a minimum of a 1 hour charge.  Please call ahead to make sure a technician is available.

No Exceptions will be made.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, but it is our responsibility to make sure that these photos are available for many years to come.

Historical photos of the county are available for viewing within our office. We have photos dating from the 1930's all the way up to the year 2000.

Private landowner assistance

If you are looking to buy or build a house in Dutchess County, have several ways to help you find valuable information about your property

We often have people call or come in to our office with a variety of problems on their property:

  •           Wet basements

  •           Dry drinking water wells

  •           Runoff flooding the yard

  •           Streams overtopping their banks

  •           Lakes green with algae and weeds

  •           Failing septic systems

Also, we often get calls from people who find out after they have already purchased property with the intent of building or otherwise developing it that it has natural features that make development difficult, such as wetlands, steep slopes, or soils unsuitable for septic systems.

We have a variety of resources we can draw on to help potential home buyers and landowners make the best land use decisions for their property, and prevent these problems from happening.

Review of erosion and sediment control plans

DCSWCD is available to help communities and private landowners review development site plans to ensure that proper erosion and sediment controls are in place. Not only will this help to reduce the potential for non point source pollution, but it may also help the developer by making sure the engineering behind the plan is sound. The District has on staff a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) and a CPESC in training to assist you with these needs.

See our publications page for more information.

Topo quads are available to buy or review. You can purchase quads for $5.50 each. If mailed, a shipping and handling charge WILL BE ADDED.
